Kim byli Żołnierze Wyklęci? Dlaczego podjęli nierówną walkę? Na to pytanie odpowiadał wiceprezes Fundacji Pamięci Narodów Marcin Kaczorowski w TVP World (Poland In).
„Myślę, że to doskonałe pytanie i dotyka sedna problemu. Sowieci weszli do Polski mówiąc: „Jesteśmy przyjaciółmi. Odbudowujmy razem kraj. Możecie się ujawnić, nie musicie się dalej ukrywać”. Ogłosili amnestię i co się okazało? Aresztowali oficerów, torturowali ich na śmierć, wyciągali od nich informacje, polowali na pozostałych. Wtedy ludzie zdali sobie sprawę, że lepiej jest zginąć z bronią w ręku, walcząc w lesie, niż być zamęczonym na śmierć w jakiejś ciemnej piwnicy” – mówił Marcin Kaczorowski z Fundacja Pamięci Narodów w Poland In. „Jest wiele do odkrycia, jest wiele bezimiennych masowych grobów. One są wszędzie. Jak mówią starsi ludzie w Warszawie: „to miasto to wielki cmentarz”

„They announced the amnesty and what happens then? They captured the officers, they tortured them to death, they extracted the information, they hunted the others. Then people realized it’s simply better to die with a gun in your hand, fighting in the forrest, than to be tortured to death in some dark basement. There is a lot to discover, there are many nameless mass graves. They are everywhere. As older people in Warsaw say: ′′this city is a big cementary”
